Your path to the University Library

Training and studies

The University Library offers apprenticeships for the profession of IT specialist in the field of system integration. In practice, you will learn various basic and job-specific skills that will prepare you well for everyday working life.

The training program to become an IT specialist for system integration is a classic dual training program and lasts a total of three years. You will learn theoretical and practical basics that are the same in all IT specialist disciplines and which will later be supplemented by specialised knowledge of system integration and operational project work.

The University Library also offers apprenticeships for the profession of IT specialist specializing in system integration. In practice, you will learn various basic and job-specific skills that will prepare you well for everyday work.

These include

  • designing and implementing IT systems
  • installing and configuring networks, and
  • administering IT systems.

You will also gain insight into the processes at the University Library and the techniques used, such as ticket systems through which employees submit IT requests.

The University Library offers apprenticeships for the profession of IT specialist in the field of application development. In practice, you will learn various basic and job-specific skills that will prepare you well for everyday working life.

The training program to become an IT specialist for application development is a classic dual training program and lasts a total of three years. You will learn theoretical and practical basics that are the same in all IT specialist disciplines and which will later be supplemented by specialised knowledge of application development and operational project work.

IT specialists for application development develop customized software for companies and customers, advise on design, and thoroughly test applications for functionality. They prepare cost estimates, train users, and offer IT support. In addition, they keep their programming skills up to date in order to meet current market requirements.

With us, you will learn:

  • How to develop software according to customer requirements
  • How to test and adapt applications
  • How to create concepts and cost estimates
  • How to train and support users
  • How to keep up with new market developments

You will also gain insights into the processes of the UB and the techniques to be used.

The LMU University Library offers training positions for the state-recognized profession of Qualified Specialist in Media and Information Services (FaMI) in the field of library science.

The tasks of FaMIs in the field of library science may include:

  • Building and maintaining the library collection
  • Procuring media
  • Advising and assisting users
  • Research and information retrieval
  • Collaborating on projects

The bachelor's degree program in Library and Information Management lasts six semesters and prepares students for a career as a librarian.

The duties of librarians may include:

  • Literature acquisition and cataloging
  • Advising users on literature research
  • Tasks in the field of information technology and system administration

After successfully completing a first degree, postgraduate training as a research librarian can be undertaken.

The duties of a research librarian may include:

  • Collection development and content indexing
  • Teaching information literacy
  • Management, administration, and organization
  • Research support and scientific communication

With the legal clerkship / traineeship and the master's program, there are various options for postgraduate education.
